“I really liked camp because it taught me a lot about my asthma. At the camp I learned how to breathe better when I run. Now I can run farther without getting tired. Before the camp I would wheeze at night and it was hard to sleep. Now I sleep better.”

Advocacy

Breathe California actively pursues a number of local policies aimed at protecting the health of the community. By working with local governments we can play a significant role in promoting public health in the Bay Area. We look to the support of the community to help us initiate policies that will protect the lung health of our family and friends.

With help from the public we actively lobby for initiatives to promote various lung health issues. This includes tobacco control measures such as restricting youth access to tobacco; secondhand smoke provisions such as smoking in local parks where our children play; clean air/environmental protections such as wood burning; and other critical issues affecting those suffering from lung disease.

Without your support, Breathe California would not be able to produce the changes we have seen in our local communities regarding lung health. We greatly appreciate the involvement of community members in all our advocacy efforts.
