Before You Use Your Fireplace, Check If It’s a Spare the Air Night

Camp Superstuff campersThis winter, you can help protect the health of local residents by limiting your wood burning. Wood burning releases dangerous particulates which can aggravate asthma symptoms and cause heart attacks. These toxic pollutants are so small that even closing your windows and doors can’t fully protect you from wood smoke drifting towards your home.

Help us reduce the impact of wood smoke by following the Bay Area Air Quality Management District’s new regulation banning wood burning on Spare the Air Nights! Your support will help ensure that your neighbors, friends and family members are all able to breathe easier this winter. To learn more about this new rule, please visit http://www.baaqmd.gov/.

Reminder: CFC Albuterol Inhalers Will Be Unavailable Starting Jan 1st.

Lung disease patients: Now’s the time to finally switch from a CFC albuterol inhaler to a HFA inhaler! Beginning January 1st, CFC inhalers will not be sold anywhere in the U.S. as part of an international agreement to reduce ozone-depleting CFCs from our atmosphere. With the ban’s phase-in period coming to an end, make sure you switch to a HFA inhaler now so that you’re not left unequipped the next time you need it.  Learn more about the upcoming ban on CFC inhalers.
